What is RAIN RFID?

And why does it matter?

RAIN RFID is the global term for UHF RFID.

Just as NFC refers to HF RFID, RAIN is the name for UHF technology used to identify, track, and manage items at high speed and long range.

RAIN connects everyday items to digital systems — fast, accurately, and without line-of-sight. You can read up to 1,000 tags per second, from a few centimeters to several meters away. Each tag carries a unique ID, giving you precise item-level visibility.

It is standards-based, low cost, and already used in billions of products across retail, automotive, tire, logistics, and healthcare.

At Hana, we design and manufacture the inlays and embeddable tags that make RAIN RFID work at scale.
